What’s Available (#977)
Good morning! Wonderful to meet with you today. Today we’re going to focus on something we talk about every couple of years: we focus on what’s available from God. I thought about that today; I was helping a friend shop the other day and we had to start with what is available in the store and we found a lot of stuff right on the floor, but then we couldn’t find something, so we asked one of the staff there and sure enough, they found it. Way in the back corner where it wasn’t obvious. You’ve got to start with what is available; if you’re buying something online or out of a catalog, you have to look and see what they have. It is easy to find shoes at a shoe store, but it would be a very tough place to find electrical parts or plumbing supplies. Then again, if you go to a hardware store, you’d have plenty of electrical and plumbing supplies but you’d have a hard time finding a pair of shoes, unless you find maybe a pair of work boots. But, even that would be unlikely. So, you have to know what is available from God. There are people that think that nothing is available from God because people think God created the world and then retired or went on vacation and He won’t talk to people. So, some people think nothing is available from God. Some people go so extravagant, they think they can ask God for anything, but God hasn’t promised it. You know, people pray for bad things to happen to their enemies or stuff the God has never promised. So, we have to look in God’s word, that’s where we find out what is available.
