Good morning. This is called Father’s Day. And of course we want to honor our earthy fathers and also, we want to honor our heavenly father, so that is what we’ll read about today. Let’s start in Matthew chapter six…

Good morning! Delighted to talk to you on this Penatcost Sunday. Again, this is not the exact date that Pentacost happened, but it did happen at this time of year. And, there is a basic church calendar that many gruops follow that have the date of Easter, Christmas, and that sort of thing. So, this is the date celebrated around the world as Pentacost. And, it is so interesting because Pentacost is the day that God chose to establish the Age of Grace. We know that in the Old Testament, as we’ll read today in Nehemiah, there was a convenant between God and His people that was based on having the males circumcised, and the people following the law and doing various other things. And, our covenant we have today, the New Covenant, is based on getting born-again and having the Holy Spirit, and that is the main thing. Just like circumcism was the sort of symbol or token of the covenant between God and man in the Old Testament, it is the gift of Holy Spirit that is the token today. There was a period in the Gospels where water-baptism was involved, but that really went away: Jesus Christ and perhaps even John the Baptist said “I baptise you with water, but in the days ahead you’ll be baptised with Holy Spirit and with fire,” and that is what started on the day of Pentacost. So, I’m glad the church community is taking time to celebrate that and remmeber that great gift of holy spirit that came on the day of Pentacost when the Christian Church, what we call the call the Church of the Body, began. There was also a Church of the Gospels called the Church of the Bride, which again, they had water baptism, but today, we have baptism by holy spirit by getting born again, which started on the day of Pentacost. So, with no further ado, let’s go to Nehemiah chapter eight….

God bless you all. Here we are on the Sunday before Memorial Day. It’s eight days from now, and Memorial Day of course started as Decoration Day after the Civil War to commemorate those that died in combat in the service of our country and they would decorate their grave sites, but then over time it just became called Memorial Day. So,, we’re very, very thankful for the brave men and women that have fought to give us the freedom and safety we have in our country, as well as all the other service personnel and first responders and as many others that make our lives safe, peaceful, and free. We’re delighted and are very thankful. And not only do we have Memorial Day in our country, but there is a lot in Bible about remembering what God did, and there is even some verses about God remembering His people. So, remembering is big deal in the Bible and we will read some of the verses about it. So I’m calling the topic today: Memorial Day and Always. Meaning yes, on Memorial Day we should remember those that gave their lived for our country, but everyday we should remember what God has done for us. So, let’s get into the Word starting in Genesis chapter eight…

Good morning, glad to be here with you again. We met last time on Palm Sunday on the church calendar, this past Sunday was Easter for the Western or Latin Church, and this Sunday, today, when we are meeting is the Orthodox Easter. So, if you have any friends who were Greek Orthodox, they’ll be celebrating. But as we’ve said before, we don’t really notice the church calendar; it says in Colossians not to be observers of days and times and hours, but as I’ve said many times: if the whole world is going to take a day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I’m all for it. And a good chunk of the world is doing it today.
Well, were going to go back to a topic we’ve talked about other times, but with a little different twist on it, but we’re going to talk about keep rejoicing. We have to work with our minds to continue to rejoice. A lot of people think happiness is based on their circumstances and happiness might be. But the rejoicing is something we can decide to do, God commands it; so, it is something we can decide to do with our minds. We can either sort of grumpily and morosely dwell on problems and difficulties in life, or we can choose to actively rejoice in the things God has done, is doing for us and will continue to do. In a sort of foundational verse to this topic for us today is in Proverbs 4…

Good morning. We’re going to continue our series on the grace of God today, which will, one of these days turn into a book, so this is sort of preparatory for that. And today we’re going to talk about grace and vision. God has a great vision for our lives and we need to talk to God and pray and develop a vision for our lives going forward as well. And you will find as we look into these visions, the records we’re going to use may not use the word grace very often, but it is very clear that God helps people with a good vision for their lives and helps them accomplish great things and receive great deliverance — not dependent on them following a bunch of rules. That may happen in a business deal, I may sign a contract that if I fulfill these 12 things, and pay these fees, and hit this deadline then somebody is either going to some work for me or pay me for something. It is always a bunch of requirements, a bunch of contingencies, a bunch of goals to be met.
But, you don’t see that when you look at these records.. The reason I say it is by grace is that God just says He is going to do these things for His people without anything else; it is just He loves His people and He is going to take care of them. He is going to encourage them to have a bigger vision for their lives, and He is going to help show them that He can do more for them then they ever imagined. So, I think we’ll have a great time looking at these records, many of them are very familiar, but we’re looking at them again from the point of view of it is simply by God’s love and grace that He does these things. Let’s start in II Kings chapter six…
